Citizen Rifle 1

There is a reason militaries the world over have chosen rifles for their small arm of choice. A modern rifle in the hands of a trained individual is an force to be reckoned with. If you would like to learn to operate a rifle with an extreme amount of competency and skill please join us for this one day class.

Our Citizen Rifle 1 Course is unique in that you learn to shoot your rifle in the context of a buddy team. You will be paired up with a buddy and learn the basics of “shoot, move and communicate” with your buddy throughout the day. If you have a friend to bring with, even better, if not, you’ll make a new friend while learning to be a more effective shooter and combat partner.

Topics Covered:

  • Universal & Omnipresent Gun Safety Rules

  • A Fighting/Winning Mindset

  • Weapon Operation and Philosophy of Use

  • Zeroing the rifle

  • Working with a partner / battle buddy

What To Bring: Click here to download our packing list

  • An open, teachable mind

  • A modern carbine rifle (that has been zeroed at 50 or 100 yards) such as an AR15 or AK47 or a full size battle rifle such as an AR10

    • A spare rifle if you have one available is always a good idea to bring to class

    • Be polite, have either a suppressor or flash hider on your rifle, not a comp.

    • Weapon lube, cleaning kit, and tools to fix/work on your rifle

    • A sling for your rifle (required)

    • 500 Rifle Rounds

      • A note on ammo: We HIGHLY recommend you shoot brass cased ammunition (AKs are an exception, we shoot steel through AKs) and NOT STEEL cased ammunition. Most rifles and ARs in particular are not designed to handle steel cased ammunition. We recommend functional ammunition in order to get the most from your training experience. There is nothing more frustrating than being at a class and struggling with equipment issues. Click here to buy Fiocchi ammo from Ammo Supply Warehouse. Thank us later.

    • At least 4 working magazines for your rifle

    • A way to carry magazines: Magazine pouch, plate carrier, chest rig, "active shooter bag" or "go bag" (able to carry at least one magazine on your person; pockets work too)

      • A note on kit: - we encourage you to wear as much or as little kit as you desire. Just got a new helmet, plates and belt? No better place to test it out then by wearing it all day in class. In fact if you own kit, we encourage you wear it as it is going to help give you a very good idea what works and what doesn’t for you.

  • Handgun 9mm-45ACP (wearing a sidearm is optional for this course - if you do choose to wear a pistol, please have all the required gear for a pistol below)

    • 100 Pistol Rounds

    • OWB holster for pistol - hard sided holster only

    • Pistol magazine pouches (able to carry at least one extra pistol magazine on your person; pockets work)

  • TQ and IFAK (We love the DARK Kits)

  • Note Taking Gear

  • Lots of water (gallon jug recommended) and bag lunch

  • PPE

    • Seasonally appropriate clothing suited to dynamic activity (no sandals/shorts), all shooting is outdoors (we shoot rain or shine).

      • For our rifle class we recommend a high collared shirt and/or a shmagah to prevent hot brass from finding it’s way down your shirt/onto your neck where it can cause fairly painful burns. Ladies - take special care of brass finding it’s way down your shirt.

    • Bug spray and sun tan lotion

    • Ear and eye protection

    • Lawn chair (highly recommended)

    • HAM Radio (optional)

    • Knee pads (if so desired)

    • Gloves (recommended but not required)

      • Your gun will get hot during the day and gloves will go along way to keep your hands comfortable holding your weapon.
